Our climbing competitions are designed for all skill levels. Each year we offer a top rope and bouldering competition. The bouldering competition is held in the Fall semester and the top rope competition is held in the Spring semester. All competitors will compete in gender neutral divisions ranging from Beginner to Advanced.

Spartan Summit

A favorite event of Outdoor Adventures, the Spartan Summit, is a top-rope rock climbing competition open to anyone! A variety of routes ranging from beginner to advanced are set to provide a fun and challenging competition for climbers of all skill levels. The Spartan Summit includes climbing, prizes, and giveaways. The top five competitors in each category are awarded prizes. Climbers can choose from the morning heat or the afternoon heat at time of registration although all awards will be done after the afternoon heat and climbers from both heats will be scored together.

Competitors can choose any problems they wish to attempt and the top 5 competitors in each competition division will be awarded prizes.

Spectator policy

Friends and family who would like to watch the competition and are not Kaplan Center members or students will be allowed into the facility to spectate. Upon accessing the facility, all spectators must visit the Welcome Desk of the Kaplan Center with a physical, valid government-issued photo ID and pay the $2.00 spectator fee (in cash ONLY) or donate a canned good. Each spectator will receive a receipt that must be kept with them at all times during the event or game. The Department of Recreation and Wellness reserves the right to ask for this receipt at any time during the event or game being spectated.

Spectators are not permitted in the climbing area and must spectate from outside of Outdoor Adventures, either in the lower lobby or overlooking the climbing wall.
