Intramural Water Basketball Tournament

At the Kaplan Center, basketball is usually played in one of the gyms, while aquatic activities take place in the pool. Water basketball, played in the activity pool, blurs these boundaries to create yet another fun activity for UNCG students.

“It’s the merging of two different concepts,” says junior Chris Preston, who was taking part in last Friday’s 3v3 Pool Basketball Tournament with his team the Pool Ballers. “It brings together the fundamentals of basketball with the challenges of swimming.”

“It brings a lot more competition and a lot more fun,” says senior Drew Lancaster, whose team TDX and Friends won the tournament.

Sophomore Denysia Bender also agreed that the game is just another opportunity for students to have fun.

“It’s a good way to not be as serious as you are on the court,” says Bender. “It’s just friends playing against friends.”

There are several more opportunities for students to participate in Intramural Events this semester. It is free to register, and you can register as either a team or a Free Agent (individual). Visit the Intramural Sports page for a full schedule and to sign up:
