Group Fitness Instructor Course


Registration Dates: January 2nd – 28th
Program Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays, January 29th -February 21st (4 weeks)
Time: 4:30pm – 6:00pm
Location: Leonard J Kaplan Center for Wellness, Studio 1
Cost: $45.00

This course is designed to provide students with the education and practical experience needed to become a group fitness instructor. The ACE Group Fitness Instructor book rental is included in the course fee. At the end of the course, students have the choice to return the book or purchase the books in full. Additional handouts, powerpoints, and worksheets are provided throughout the course for educational purposes. No prerequisites required.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Understanding the Role of a Group Fitness Instructor
  • Fundamentals of Movement and Form
  • Creating Positive Experiences for Participants
  • Developing a Class Blueprint and Design
  • Executing a Successful Group Fitness Class

Following completion of the course, you may be eligible for employment as a group fitness instructor for the Department of Recreation & Wellness beginning Summer 2019. Completion of the ACE national certification exam is encouraged, but not required to obtain employment at the Kaplan Center for Wellness.

Registration is open from January 2nd – January 28th. Sign-up at the Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness Administrative Suite or over the phone during normal business hours. Payment is due at the time of registration. This training is open to all UNCG students, faculty/staff, and alumni.
