UPDATES

March 7, 2022

With the continued decline of COVID-19 cases on campus and within our community, and in alignment with new direction from the UNC System Office and guidance from the Governor, CDC, and NC Department of Health and Human Services, face coverings will be optional in most indoor locations, including classrooms and other instructional settings, beginning March 7, 2022. Face coverings will only be mandatory where required by state or federal law and regulations, including the following areas:

  • Student Health Services and health care clinics (including internships in clinical settings)
  • University Transportation (Spartan Shuttle, passenger vans, or buses)

Although face coverings will no longer be required in most spaces on campus, we encourage all members of the UNCG community to continue wearing them indoors, especially in instructional settings, and in research environments where participants are immunocompromised or who are unable to be vaccinated due to age or other health risks. If you are unvaccinated, please continue to wear masks to protect yourself and others.

January 7, 2022

In response to the increased rise in COVID-19 cases and based on university guidance, informal recreation activities (basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc.) are suspended through Monday, January 17th. Resumption of activities will be evaluated on a weekly basis.

The following activities are also on pause through the end of January.

  • Intramural Sports – indoor soccer and basketball leagues and dodgeball tournament
  • Club Sports – all activities
  • Outdoor Adventures trips

Group Fitness classes will occur with reduced capacities.  Limited informal recreation equipment will be available for check out.

Per UNCG policy, face coverings are required at all times in indoor settings and facilities – regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are also required in outdoor settings if unable to maintain social distancing.  Face coverings must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times.

The Department of Recreation & Wellness has a zero tolerance policy regarding face covering compliance.  Failure to comply will result in dismissal from the facility.

We are committed to the health and safety of our community.  Thank you for helping us do our part to Shield Our Spartans.

Beginning Monday, August 2, UNC Greensboro will require face coverings to be worn in all indoor settings and facilities, regardless of vaccination status, until further notice.

July 22, 2021

Attention Patrons & Students: On July 21, 2021, UNC Greensboro released updated COVID safety guidelines. After consultation with public health experts, UNC System colleagues, and the senior leadership team, UNCG’s approach to Shield Our Spartans remains multi-pronged as students come back to campus and classrooms in greater numbers.   Face coverings remain an important part of the strategy to keep campus safe. It was announced in June that face coverings were no longer required when outdoors. The policy is now updated to reflect CDC guidance that face coverings are optional for fully vaccinated individuals.  Individuals who are not fully vaccinated should continue to wear a face covering when inside.  This guidance will apply to the use of the Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness.   Disposable face coverings are still available for students, staff, and faculty as needed.

Specific details about capacity, events, family memberships & minors, etc. are still being determined and will be communicated soo
